NEW YORK — A group of top-tier ballet dancers has been training newborns how to fly.
Dancers at the BabyCenter New York dance club recently performed a training session for baby-sitting club members.
A baby sitting group in New York City was recently in the news after a video was released showing a group of dancers performing a baby-shopping maneuver.
The video shows a woman performing a backflip to the side while a man holds her hand, using his left hand to lift the woman and her baby out of the air.
The baby is still strapped to the woman’s back.
The videos prompted outrage and calls for an official ban on the practice, which is banned in the United States but is legal in many countries around the world.
New York City’s BabyCenter, a dance club that offers a variety of classes, has been hosting workshops for the public to train with the dancers, which include gymnastics, acrobatics, ballet, ballet dancing, gymnastics modeling and even ballet recitals.
The dance studio has been the subject of a lawsuit filed in federal court by the American Academy of Pediatrics, which claims the practice violates its policies banning cribs, cots and other equipment.
