You can watch a full slate of the 2018 baseball season on your phone right now, thanks to the latest version of Apple’s iOS.
In addition to live games on ABC, Fox, NBC, CBS and ESPN, Apple is also adding a handful of regional sports channels to the lineup.
“We’re excited to bring you an extensive selection of MLB on Apple TV to keep you entertained while watching games, while playing games, or while you’re at the ballpark,” said Apple TV product marketing manager, Jason Storch.
The company is also announcing that it is working on an Android app for the iPhone, which will include an interactive version of the live game.
We are in the early stages of a brand new partnership with ESPN to bring MLB on Android to millions of fans, starting with the 2018 season.
This partnership will allow us to bring the world of baseball to millions more fans on the Apple TV platform, including millions of live games, as well as on the new ESPN app, which is now available for iOS and Android devices.
“The MLB on iOS app is the most popular app in the MLB app store, and it’s already one of the most downloaded apps in the app store,” said Storp.
In addition, the app will bring all the live baseball content from MLB.com and the MLB Network to Apple TV.
The company’s announcement comes as the MLB season gets underway, as MLB and the owners of MLB Network have teamed up to deliver the live broadcasts of all 20 MLB regular season games on ESPN for free.
But Apple is not just adding to the sports app lineup for baseball fans.
It is also launching a new app for sports fans, the Apple Watch Sports app, for which Apple will provide the official Apple Watch app, along with an interactive live game experience.
The app will allow fans to enjoy sports games on the watch, which can be accessed via the watch face, wristband, or in-app.
Users can also listen to their favorite sports radio stations and sports talk shows.
“We are excited to introduce a new Apple Watch experience to millions,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
“The Apple Watch has captured the imagination of fans around the world with our innovative Sports app and we’re excited for the next stage in its evolution with this exciting new product.”
As of this writing, Apple TV is available for purchase for $349.99 with a four-year contract for the Apple 4th generation or $449.99 for the 4th-gen Apple Watch.
The company will have its launch event in New York on Tuesday, October 18, 2018.
